four people have died due to Lassa Hemorrhagic Fever in Plateau state.
The state Commissioner for health, Dr. Kuden Kamshak, confirmed this on Wednesday.
according to him, 22 suspected cases have been taken for samples and 13 had been later confirmed to have the virus out which of 4 did not survive.
Kamshak, in addition, explained that the remaining patients are been managed at Bingham teaching medical institution as well as the Jos university teaching medical institution where they are responding to treatment.
He stated the primary contacts are also being monitored by the surveillance
The outbreak is currently generic in Jos North, Jos South, Shendam, Bassa and Riyom local government areas of the state.
With the resurgence of the ailment, the Federal authorities have activated emergency response centers in the country.
Director-general of the Nigeria Centre for disease control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, stated this in a statement signed by him on Tuesday.
The NCDC boss also said that current epidemiological data showed that the trend usually happens at some point of the dry season – between January and April.
“As at 13 January 2019, a total of 60 confirmed instances were reported in 8 states,” he said
