Basketmouth hints on new partnership with Amazon Prime Video

Star comedian, Basketmouth may have landed a juicy new deal with streaming platform, Prime Video.

The show creator recently teased fans on Instagram with a photo of himself and the Amazon Prime team ( currently in Nigeria for this year’s AFRIFF). He captioned the photo:

“Had an amazing dinner with the Amazon video team last night. #Kutukutukutu is all I can say for now.”

Fans of the star act might know that he constantly uses the hashtag when he has projects in the works, a move that suggests a positive feedback from the Amazon Prime team.

Recall that this year, Basketmouth released two acclaimed comedy series including his latest ‘Ghana Jollof’ which is Showmax’s first Nigerian comedy series original.

Directed by award-winning director Diji Aderogba, the series features a fine blend of Nollywood and Ghallywood stars including Uzor Arukwe, Akah Nnani, Funnybone, Joselyn Dumas and James Gardiner.

Basketmouth also recently signed a music deal with Empire Music ahead of the release of his sophomore.

‘He messed with loyalty’- Basketmouth speaks on alleged beef with AY

Nigerian comedy great Bright Okpocha, better known by his stage name Basketmouth has opened up about his alleged beef with AY Makun.

There have been long-running speculations about the relationship between the two comedy greats who have never worked together.

During a recent interview on Ebuka Obi-Uchendu’s Black Box Interview series on Bounce Radio, the conversation of alleged disunity among comedians in Nigeria came up.

Ebuka brought up the alleged comedy beef with AY during the conversation, and Basketmouth revealed that he fell out with his fellow comedian because he messed with loyalty. “I don’t mess around with loyalty. He came into my space and messed around with loyalty,” the comedian said about his issue with AY.

He said something that he wasn’t supposed to say. That was going to cause a rift between me and this person.

It was Magmus (Umeri), my lawyer. I said something to AY, and he told Magmus, and he wasn’t supposed to say it.”

The 43-year-old comedian, however, played down the situation and revealed that they have settled it and moved on.

We made peace and he apologized,” Basketmouth said but also clarified that although he and AY are not friends but remain cordial.

Also, in the interview, Basketmouth played down the speculation that he fell out with AY because he took his former mentee Bovi from him.

I did not snatch Bovi. Bovi is not a girl,” the comedian said before narrating that he met Bovi for the first time at a comedy event in Abuja, and from there, they became friends.

Basketmouth, however, seemed to throw a shade at AY with a story about a boy who lost his girlfriend to his neighbor but later clarified he wasn’t talking about the Bovi and AY.

He and Bovi were inseparable at some point, always hanging out together and collaborating on several projects.

Comedian Basketmouth welcomes 3rd child with wife Elsie

The comedian took to his Instagram page on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, where he announced the big news.

“Happy birthday darling dearest @elsieokpocha I am so blessed to have an amazon for a wife. Here’s wishing you the very best things in life….which starts from me,” he wrote.

“P.S: Thanks for updating my fatherhood licence a month ago, I am now upgraded to version 4. P.S.2: You’re beautiful AF!!! ❤️❤️❤️.”

Elsie also took to her Instagram page where she shared the good news. However, she revealed she had three miscarriages before welcoming her third child.

This is Basketmouth’s fourth child.

The comedian and his wife have three children together.

‘Papa Benji’ season 2 gets release date

According to ‘Papa Benji’ executive producer, Basketmouth, season two will begin streaming from July 31, 2021.

Recall Basketmouth teased fans with a video of the cast and crew at a script conference which held about two months ago. The video confirmed that some of the show’s lead stars including Bethel ‘Senator’ Njoku, Onyebuchi Ojieh will be reprising their roles in the new season.

The web series follows the story of its titular character Papa Benji and the hilarious events that occur in his pepper soup joint. Some episodes of the show’s first season satirically addressed trending political and social issues.

Popular comedian Bright Okpocha aka Basketmouth ,who just won his second the Savanna Pan-African Comic of the Year Award, two years in a row, turned 40 a few days ago.

Last night, Basketmouth, celebrated his 40th birthday party in Lagos.

The party was attended by his family and friends including 2face and Annie Idibia, Cobhams, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Julius Agwu and wife, Bovi, Sound Sultan and wife, Igosave, Maleke Idowu and many others.
