Crisis hits APC as Youth Wing sacks CECPC, disowned by leadership

The internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress worsened on Monday with the party’s Youth Wing sacking the Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

In a quick reaction, the leadership of the party said the APC Progressive Youth Movement was not a recognized body.

The APC Progressive Youth Movement on Monday handed the CECPC, led by the Yobe State Governor, Mai Male Buni, an ultimatum to pack and go.

The Chairman of the APC-PYM, Mustapha Audu, said: “Today is the day that story of youths are leaders of tomorrow ended. “Today, we are leaders of here and now and we will change Nigeria.

“We have been recognized by Mr. President and by all the members of the party.

“I can tell you that the leaders are currently scrambling and having meeting on how to align with us.

“This Caretaker Committee has sacked the Buni-led caretaker committee and (it) stands dissolved, disbanded and no longer represent the APC members.

“As the new committee, we will take up the monumental task of reconciliation.”

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Audu gave the party’s national leadership a January 3, 2021 ultimatum to vacate the national secretariat.

He said the group would not only write to the Buni-led committee next week to hand over and vacate the national secretariat, but would also write an audit firm to look into the accounts of the ruling party since the caretaker committee took over last year.

He said: “It is clear that there are issues in our great party and we all know that there are constitutional lacuna we are facing and the opposition is not happy with what is going on.

“The composition of the sacked APC was in clear violation of the party and Nigeria’s constitution, but we have resolved that constitution lacuna and we are no longer unprepared for the 2023 general elections.

“To show you the power of young people, we met just a week ago in Kaduna and fixed our convention for February 2022 only for the governors to assemble in Abuja 24 …

Navy vows to punish Cute Abiola, says he deliberately violated social media policy

The Nigerian Navy has again explained the reason naval personnel and online comedian, Abdulgafar Ahmad Oliuwatoyin, better known as Cute Abiola is being detained.

The spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Suleiman Dahun in an interview with Punch said the Instagram comedian deliberately flouted the armed forces social media policy.

“There is an armed forces social media policy that was promulgated by the defense headquarters, and its principal regulation is that military personnel should not post photos or videos of themselves in uniform while engaging in personal or official activities, Dahun said.

“Military personnel are also not allowed to make comments or share official military decisions, activities or operations on social media. They are also not allowed to forward materials on social media. Copies of the policy are available with the Director of Defense Information. It is not a restricted document, so it can be made available to anyone who needs it.”

He said after violating the rule, naval authorities invited Abiola, who was on leave at the time to come and explain himself, but he ignored their calls.

“When we got the clip wherein he violated the policy, we asked him to come back to explain himself but he did not return. His commanding officer called him to explain himself concerning the video clip but he ignored his commander and didn’t return until his leave was over.

“When he returned, he was put in custody. If he had come back when he was called upon to explain himself, we would not be discussing this. We are not in an animal farm. We are human beings too but laws have to be obeyed,” he said.

Dahun further said the comedian would be tried first and if found guilty, he would be punished.

“He would get his due punishment, a light one, not something hard. We recognize that he is an entertainer and he could even be given an opportunity to showcase his talent during (social) events of the Nigerian Navy or the Armed Forces. There are two

Black Panther’s T’Challa will not return to MCU – Marvel studio

Marvel studios VP of Development Nate Moore has shut down rumors that the studio will recast the T’Challa character in the forthcoming ‘Black Panther’ sequel or in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent Ringer verse podcast interview, Moore clarified that the character formerly played by deceased movie star Chadwick Boseman had been laid to rest and there are no discussions on recasting.

Moore’s comment echoes Disney and Marvel’s announcement early on in the year that the character will not be recast in honor of Boseman who passed on in 2020 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Meanwhile, filming reportedly paused for ‘Wakanda Forever’ months after actress Letitia Wright suffered injuries on set. According to major headlines, production will resume in a few weeks just in time for Wright’s return.

While plot details of the new sequel are being kept under wraps, Marvel CEO Kevin Feige revealed in 2020 that it will focus on Wakanda itself. The sequel will premiere in theatres on November 11, 2022.

Is Dwayne Johnson returning to the fast & furious franchise?

As the fast &furious saga that began in 2001 draws to its conclusions, the film producer and lead actor ‘Vin diesel’ is willing to bury the hatchet with co-star and Dwayne johnson, who played a pivotal role in several instalments of the storyline as the ‘nemesis turned friend’ cop ‘Hobbs’.

On the 8th of November 2021, Vin diesel made an IG post, publicly beckoning the former WWE figure to reprise his central role in the fast franchise ahead of F10 and F11.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits. I told you years ago that I was going to fulfil my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale, that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfil your destiny”. Dwayne Johnson made his final appearance in the 2017s release ‘The fate of the furious’. The actors had disagreements on set during filming, which eventually became public. The reason for their clash was reported to be time management, filming procedures, among other factors. However, considering the year’s passed since the beef originated and ‘fast and furious’ continuing to excel in the box office as validated with F9’s success. We hope the ‘Jungle Cruise’ and ‘Red Notice’ star takes Vin diesel up on his offer and makes an appearance for the fans, for the film, and family. Israel Olorunnisola is a freelance creative. National Assembly to APC, Presidency, Governors: No going back on Direct Primaries

An extended tripartite committee of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday met to discuss and resolve topical issues, particularly party primaries.

The meeting, held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, was chaired by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).

President Muhammadu Buhari had in August 2020 established a Tripartite Consultative Committee of the Executive, Legislature and Leadership of the APC with a view to fostering cordial and beneficial relationship among all.

The National Assembly, on Tuesday, passed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2021. Tuesday’s meeting had in addition to members of the tripartite committee representatives of APC governors and members of the National Assembly.

Governor Yayaha Bello Kogi State, who spoke with State House correspondents after the meeting, said the critical issues were resolved.

Bello said: “The takeaway is that the topical issues have been resolved.

“The legislature, the executive and our party.

“So it is a good resolution.

“I don’t think any legislator or anybody whatsoever as far as APC is concerned is afraid or has any reservation about any mode of primaries.

“The only concern is the implication of having only one option.

“In case an option fails, what happens?

“If for instance INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) sets a date for an election and say it is sacrosanct.

“For instance, today is September 9.

“If INEC is suppose to conduct election today and it says that day is sacrosanct, under no circumstance should it be shifted and a circumstance beyond your control arises, what do you do?

“It means there will be no election.

“Then, you are calling for anarchy.

“That is just the only concern of our people.

“And I think we are taking that head on and I think we are going to be good for whatever decision that will be taken at the end of the day.”

The governor said he belonged to the executive arm of the government and would not subscribe to meddling with the affairs of the legislature.

Bello said whatever decision the legislature had taken might have been …
