BBNaija ‘Shins Ya Eye’ records over 1 billion votes

The just concluded sixth season of fan-favourite reality TV show, Big Brother Naija recorded a cumulative vote of over one billion from fans.

The staggering figure confirmed by show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu comes amid the numerous criticisms that trailed the season as well as the change in voting pattern.

Recall that the show organisers announced weeks before the season started that there would be no paid voting as was the norm in previous seasons. As opposed to paid voting, fans were encouraged to support their favourites by voting on the organizers’ online platforms with more votes allocated to subscribers of their cable TV decoders.

Meanwhile, the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season rounded up with an intriguing finale show on Sunday, October 3, with guest performances from Made Kuti, Ajebo Hustlers, Lojay and BBNaija alumni Avala and Laycon.

Unlike previous seasons, the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season spotted six finalists and the much anticipated physical audience for the finale show.

Season six winner Whitemoney made a landslide victory with 47 % of fan votes. Another fan-favourite Liquorose came second place with 22.99% of fan votes while Pere and Cross came in third and fourth place respectively.

Whitemoney takes home N90 million worth of prizes including N30 million cash, a house and a brand new car.

BBNaija 2021 finale: Whitemoney wins the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season

The long anticipated season finale is finally here after 10 weeks of an arguably entertaining show with finalists Whitemoney, Liquorose, Angel, Cross and Pere.

Made Kuti kicked off the finale show with a pack-punching performance from the fan park in Lekki. Interestingly, the center was filled with a physical audience, a first since the pandemic. Right after Kuti’s thrilling performance, Big Brother gave the finalists an emotional speech and it was straight on to business from there.

The first finalist to be evicted was surprisingly the veto power holder of the season and one part of the Emmarose ship, Emmanuel.

Angel’s eviction followed closely. The 21-year-old who won fans over for her free-spirited nature was the second finalist to exit the show.

After a thrilling performance from ex-BBN housemate Avala, Ebuka announced the eviction of another fan-favourite housemate Cross leaving the top three of the season- Whitemoney, Liquorose and Pere.

The second runner-up of the season predictably turned out to be the General himself and the king of the Patriots, Pere. The 36-year-old had an intriguing run on the show from joining as a wild card to his spot in the finals getting nearly lost to Angel.

And to the moment fans anticipated all night. With the strongest contenders finally toe-to-toe, the season finale was certainly unlike the previous season where the winner, Laycon was predictable weeks ahead.

Speaking of the previous season, Laycon’s performance preceded performances from Lojay, Ajebo Hustlers and the biggest announcement of the night confirming Whitemoney as the winner of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season.

Whitemoney won the season in a landslide victory scooping 47% of viewers votes. Liquorose came second place with 22.99% of votes.

BBNaija 2021: Pere reveals how he intends to spend N90 million prize

‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemate, Pere has disclosed how he intends to utilize the prize money should he emerge winner of the season.

Pere, in a chat with Biggie on Tuesday, revealed that he hopes to invest heavily in giving back to the society and is currently considering setting up a charity organization.

“I’ll find ways and avenues to give back to society; give back to the people who made it possible and just all around, be a blessing to humanity. I’m thinking about NGOs and different things in my head as well, to help me achieve that goal.” the housemate said.

In the heart to heart session with Big Brother, the 36-year-old former US soldier revealed that he hopes to help raise awareness for Asthma in children as he battled the ailment as a child until he turned 22.

“I was six months old when I started suffering from asthma and I had it up until I was 22. So as someone that suffered from asthma for 22 years, I’ll set something up to help people who are suffering from that as well. Sounds like a lot but I’m sure I can do it. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pere won himself a brand new car on Tuesday from one of the final sponsored games. Recall the housemate almost missed a shot at the finals after Big Brother introduced a game twist that saw him compete alongside Angel for a spot even though he won over 20% of fan votes.

BBNaija 2021: Angel reveals how her grandmother kept her a virgin

‘Shine Ya Eye’ finalist, Angel has opened up about some of the crude methods her grandmother adopted to ensure she didn’t get pregnant as a teenager.

Angel, who revealed earlier on in the show that she was born out of wedlock, recently revealed to Cross how her grandmother tried bizarre methods to avoid a repeat of history.

“There was pressure on me to not get pregnant. So she was scared. I remember she would tell me to lie down in bed to check if I’m a virgin. And that’s stupid because not every woman has a hymen.

“Some women are virgins and they don’t have hymen. I remember one time she made me swear that I was a virgin. I think I was still 16. There was a lot of fear, lot of anxiety, and a lot of everything.”

The housemate also talked about how distant she felt from her biological parents while growing up with her grandmother.

“When I was in high school, I went years without seeing my mum. The funny thing is I didn’t know my mum was my mum until I was a certain age. I thought my granny was my mum.” She said.

When Cross asked Angel how old she was when she first met her mother, she replied, “I think I found out she was my mum when I was probably like seven.”

Recall Angel had shared that her mother had her at age 16 and had to deal with the stigmatization of teenage pregnancy.

BBNaija 2021: Queen, Nini & Saga have been evicted

The semi-final lap of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season kicked off with yet another major prank, this time with viewers none the wiser at least for a few minutes.

Show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu left fans of Pere stunned after announcing the housemate’s eviction. Minutes later, Ebuka confirmed that Pere was evicted from the house and not the game.

The first real eviction of the show was later confirmed to be Queen. Having had an impressive run, the now ex-housemate revealed she will be going head-on into governance.

Shortly after Queen’s eviction announcement, Ebuka confirmed Nini as the second housemate to be officially evicted from the show. For her eviction chat, the ex-housemate spoke about her triangle relationship with Saga and her much talked about boyfriend.

The third housemate to officially exit the show turned out to be Saga which may not come as a surprise for followers of the show. In a second and final twist, Ebuka announced the eviction of housemate Angel.

A look at how fans voted:

Both Angel and Pere will be moved to a separate location in the house for another major ‘Shine Ya Eye’ move. The housemates were moved to the White room and issued what Big Brother described as the most intense games of their lives. The game of trucks and screws will afford one housemate an opportunity to join the house as the fifth finalist.

BBNaija 2021: Saga shares reason he is displeased at Nini’s return

‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemate, Saga has maintained his displeasure at his love interest Nini’s return following Big Brother’s exit prank.

The housemate made the revelation on Thursday in a chat with co-housemate Pere. He revealed that the prank forced him to display strong emotions on live television.

“I’m happy to see her but I’m still angry. I’m not happy because I even felt genuine emotions, I can’t lie. I’m not happy that I had to just display such emotions on TV like that, for nothing. That’s why I just shut up my mouth. I didn’t want to talk too much,” Saga said

In response, Pere detailed how he felt about the prank. “At some point, I knew it was a prank not until Whitemoney started talking about fake housemates, I bought it.

“If Nini was a fake housemate, I would have enrolled in a psychiatric hospital. Somebody I’ve been talking to 24/7 and for 8 weeks, I won’t know that person is fake? I didn’t even buy that one for one second.”

“So she has been playing me from the very beginning? Because I’m now a fool, I don’t have sense?” Saga responded.

Since Nini’s return from from her prank exile, Saga has expressed mixed emotions. Recall that the housemate was an emotional wreck following Nini’s exit. Several attempts to pacify him turned futile

BBNaija’s Alex advises men and women to work on themselves before finding partners

Alex, a former housemate of Nigeria’s most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, has advised people seeking partners to work on themselves first.

The reality TV star made known via her Instagram page on Monday, September 20, 2021, while referring to one of Tiwa Savage’s songs.

“If you like, sit at home and be singing “somebody’s son go find me one day”. Don’t improve and add value to the “you” that wants to be found. Even Tiwa Savage that recorded the song doesn’t sit at home doing nothing,” she wrote.

“This applies to the guys too 😒. Don’t go looking for somebody’s daughter without adding value and working on yourself 😒. I come in peace ✌🏾.”

Alex was one of the popular housemates from the third season of Big Brother Naija.

The multi-talented media personality came third in that season.

She has since gone on to dabble in different things including modelling, acting and content creation.

BBNaija 2021: Yousef and Saskay have been evicted

The week’s eviction show got off to a quick start with a recap of what happened during the week.

As usual, the host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu first got into chit-chat with the housemates.

To the business of the evening, Yousef was the first housemate to be evicted on Sunday night.

After another round of chit-chatting with housemates, Ebuka announced the name of the next evicted housemate.

Unfortunately, the second housemate that exited the game was Saskay. Ebuka got to speak with the evicted housemates about their future plans. For Yousef, he hopes to explore the movie industry while Saskay would be concentrating on two personal projects including a health facility.

BBNaija 2021: Biggie exposes Saga & Nini’s late night gossip about Pere [Video]

It appears Big Brother is in a payback mood going by his jaw-dropping Thursday evening revelation exposing Saga and Nini.

In a brief meeting with the housemates, Biggie played a video featuring both housemates tittle-tattling about co-housemate Pere. The conversation which was made in hushed tones hinted on Saga and Nini making disparaging comments about Pere.

Watch the video:

After the video, Big Brother announced that the housemates had been found guilty of microphone infringement as the late night conversation saw them use hush tones. Shortly after calling out their offence, Biggie issued them strikes.

While this will be Nini’s first strike since the show kicked off, Saga has earned his second. A third strike will get the housemates instantly disqualified from the game.

Meanwhile, fans have reacted to Biggie’s video revelation, labelling it as his way of getting back at Saga for failing his prank task.

Recall the housemate was quick to rat Biggie out on Wednesday when he confessed to Nini that Biggie had put him up on a prank task.

BBNaija 2021: Saga reveals why he failed prank task

‘Shine Ya Eye’ lover boy Saga has finally opened up to Biggie about why he called off his prank task.

During the housemate’s diary session, he admitted that he couldn’t keep the act up due to his attachment to Nini.

“Nini is very smart so I didn’t start immediately. I took my time. When I started the task in the evening and it got to her until she said I should not talk to her again,” Saga said.

“At this point, I knew that I had done the task but I didn’t know for how long the task should go. She got into a fight with Cross and I had to leave my character and intervene. If the fight didn’t happen I would have continued the task.

“I passed the task up to a point but I think I failed the task. I suspect liquorose is also on the same task and she’s doing a good job, I am quite attached to Nini so it was a bit harder.”

Recall that Biggie instructed Saga to pick a fight with Nini on Tuesday. The prank task came with the offer of 200 Abeg Naira and 100 BB Token.

However, barely 20 hours after the prank task was issued, Saga ratted himself out following Nini’s emotional outburst after an altercation with Cross.

Meanwhile, Biggie issued both Saga and Nini a punishment supposedly for Saga’s failure to complete the task. The housemates woke up to a messy garden on Thursday morning with a letter addressed to Saga and Nini instructing them to clean up without the assistance of other housemates.

BBNaija 2021: Housemates in tears over Kayvee’s special message

‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemates were left balling their eyes out on Monday night after Big Brother surprised them with a special message from housemate Kayvee.

In his short address to the housemates, Kayvee expressed his support for everyone currently in the race for the N90 million grand prize. He also confirmed that he was back to his bubbly self while thanking the housemates for the kindness shown to him during his trying time.

“Well I know you guys must have been worried about me, well I’m fine, I’m happy, strong, fit…I’m rooting for every one of you, let the best man or woman win. I miss y’all, I can’t wait to meet you outside the house…” Kayvee said

Watch the video:

The video footage expectedly left the housemates emotional as this will be the first time Kayvee will address them since exiting the game a few weeks ago.

Recall that the photographer housemate was advised to exit the show on medical grounds after other housemates expressed concern over his deteriorating health.

BBNaija 2021: Whitemoney wins 1st HOH games, Nini wins veto power

‘Shine Ya Eye’ fan-favorite housemate Whitemoney has won his first head of house games.

The housemate emerged HOH after winning 26 points at Monday’s HOH games. In a surprising twist, Nini who was originally up for eviction alongside Yousef, Emmanuel, Angel and Saskay came second in the games with 25 points.

Alongside winning exclusive access to the HOH lounge, Whitemoney gets 250 Abeg Naira and 200 BB Tokens. The HOH also got to nominate Queen as his Deputy HOH.

This week’s veto power holder on the other hand, had the opportunity to save herself with Cross as her replacement.

So, the week’s nomination list now consists of Cross, Emmanuel, Saskay, Angel and Yousef.

Recall the nominations for the week held nearly an hour before the games.

Away from the nominations, the week’s HOH games spotted some highlights including Saskay’s emotional breakdown and Angel’s surprising lackadaisical attitude towards the games.

It appears both housemates felt a little overwhelmed by the turn of events leading to their nominations.

BBNaija 2021: Yousef, Angel, Emmanuel, Nini & Saskay nominated for eviction

With two weeks to the anticipated grand finale of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season, 11 housemates remain actively in competition for the grand prize.

As is the norm, each week comes the dreaded nominations. This week, housemates Yousef, Angel, Emmanuel, Saskay and Nini have made the list that will see at least one housemate exit the game this Sunday.

Like the previous week, the nomination took place right before the Head of House games with Yousef and Angel topping the list with five vote respectively. Emmanuel scored three votes while Saskay and Nini scored two votes each.

Note that the housemates up for possible eviction still have the opportunity to gain immunity by winning the Head of House games.

Below is how the housemates voted:

Whitemoney: Angel and Yousef

Saskay: Yousef and Enmanuel

Saga: Yousef and Angel

Angel: Saga and Emmanuel

Yousef: Liquorose and Cross

Liquorose: Angel and Yousef

Pere: Nini and Angel

Nini: Emmanuel and Angel

Cross: Nini and Whitemoney

Queen: Yousef and Saskay

Emmanuel: Saskay and Pere

BBNaija 2021: I feel like a widow – Saskay on Jaypaul’s eviction

Saskay has expressed her grief over the eviction of her house sweetheart Jaypaul. While there were, thankfully, no tears, the 21-year-old housemate went in quite early after the Sunday night show and needed some pep talk from Angel, Nini and Saga. In her chat with Angel, the 21-year-old housemate revealed that she felt like a widow following the singer’s eviction especially after how much they bonded in the week leading to his eviction.

The couple melted hearts last week as Jaypaul went full-on romance mode with flowers and promises to move heaven and earth if she chose him over his contender, Cross. The lovebirds also sealed the week with a brief but romantic kiss, Saskay’s first since the show kicked off.

Sadly, the onscreen romance was short-lived as Jaypaul and Jackie B got evicted during the recent Sunday night eviction show. The housemates coincidentally sailed through the famous king-size eviction after earning immunity by emerging heads of house.

BBNaija 2021: Jaypaul and Jackie B have been evicted

This weekend’s live show has seen the eviction of Jaypaul and Jackie B. The housemates join 13 already evicted contestants of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season. Kicking off with a recap of the week’s activities and a brief chit-chat with the housemates, show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu announced Jaypaul as the 14th housemate to exit Biggie’s house.

After another round of chit-chatting with housemates, Ebuka announced the eviction of Jackie B.

Coincidentally, both housemates got spared from last week’s king-size eviction after winning immunity by emerging heads of house during the week’s games.

Away from the seriousness of the evictions, a key highlight of the show was Ebuka discussing housemates entangled in situationships including Cross, Queen, Whitemoney, Jackie B, Angel and Yousef.

BBNaija 2021: Pere finally shares details of microphone strike conversation with Maria

It’s been two weeks since Maria’s exit but it appears that the housemates can’t seem to get over her at least not former love interest Pere.

In a recent truth or dare game, the housemate shared details of the Saturday night microphone infringement that finally led to Biggie issuing them strikes.

According to Pere, Maria had forced him to take off his microphone to ask him for sex.

“Maria told me to make love to her,” Pere shared with housemates.

Recall that Maria had asked Pere to take off his mic for a brief conversation against Biggie’s instructions on whispering.

Interestingly, Maria has repeatedly debunked claims by the former US soldier that they had shared any form of intimacy especially ones made by Pere involving intense smooching.

During the first week of her media rounds, she claimed that she would never have gotten to that point had she stayed longer in the house.

Meanwhile, other housemates are on to building new triangles and strengthening existing ships. With the exit of Michael, it appears Jackie B has turned to the ever loving arms of the house’s daddy figure Whitemoney. Needless to say that the latest closeness means trouble to the male housemate’s current sweetheart Queen. The beauty queen recently warned Whitemoney about the closeness which makes her uncomfortable.

‘Work on yourself bro’ – OAP Daddy Freeze advises BBNaija’s Boma

Nigerian On-Air personality, Daddy Freeze has advised Big Brother Naija’s Boma to work on himself after his exit from the reality TV show.

The OAP made this known while reacting to the reality TV star’s apology post after his exit from the show.

“What I can’t get over is the gossiping, snitching and the kissing and telling. Work on yourself bro,” he wrote.

Freeze’s post came hours after Boma took to Twitter to apologize to Nigerians for his actions in the house.

It would be recalled that Boma and Angel got into an almost free for all fight in the house before his eviction.

Things heated up quickly with the housemates over an argument of who spilled details of their executive lounge session from some weeks back.

Angel had hinted at Boma being a kiss and tell.

BBNaija 2021: Nini and Saga declare Boma an ‘Idiot’ for getting evicted

Housemates Nini and Saga have reacted to Boma’s Sunday eviction.

In a video clip currently making the rounds, the couple blamed Boma’s early eviction on how he treated co-housemate Queen.

“Boma didn’t judge her well, he f**ked up, she would’ve been good for him,” Saga said.

“Bad/Good for him [Boma], he is a f**king idiot. Thinking he wants to fool the girl” Nini replied.

Watch the video:

Recall Boma exited the show alongside Tega, Michael and Peace in BBNaija’s first ever king size eviction.

The housemate emerged in the bottom six list with less than one percent (0.81%) of the fan votes.

Going by Twitter reaction, the housemate had earned the scorn of viewers for getting intimate with married housemate Tega. Both housemates trended for days after getting a little too intimate for the comfort of viewers.

It appears that Boma’s fallout with fan-favorite Angel also got him more negative reaction from the viewers.

Meanwhile Saga and Michael received their first strikes (the fifth strike issued this season) on Sunday for damaging Big Brother’s property. Biggie had announced a punishment if they missed the eviction.

BBNaija: Tega, Michael, Peace, Boma evicted in first-ever kingsize eviction

As promised, the latest Sunday night eviction left viewers shocked to their fingertips with the turn of events. For the first time in Big Brother Naija history, four housemates got kicked out in one night!

Show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu kicked off the night with the well not so surprising eviction of controversial married housemate Tega Dominic. In the brief chat following her eviction, the housemate claimed her rendezvous with co-housemate Boma was a well played script.

Prior to an impressive surprise performance by newbie singer Arya Starr, the eviction show saw the exit of Michael and Peace after Ebuka announced that Nini and Angel had been saved for the night.

Michael’s exit might be a sad one for fans, but the housemate had an impressive run, reportedly winning N4.7 million from tasks.

The fourth and final housemate to make their way out of the house turned out to be Tega’s co-actor, Boma. The housemates had incurred the wrath and judgement of fans throughout the week with how they carried on as a couple.

Rema wrapped up the show with a stunning performance of two of his hit singles.

BBNaija 2021: Angel and Boma in nasty fight over kiss & tell allegations

The ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season recorded its first gbas gbos session after a few weeks on Thursday after Boma and Angel got to near blows and had to be separated by housemates. Things heated up quickly with the housemates over an argument of who spilled details of their executive lounge session from some weeks back. Angel had hinted on Boma being a kiss and tell.

Recall Boma and Angel enjoyed an exclusive time in the executive lounge where they shared a kiss and talked about their sexual preference. They also agreed to not share details of their moment with other housemates.

It appears one of the pair did the talking and that sparked some tension between them that rapidly escalated to name-calling and wigs flying. In the exchange, Boma fired some below the belt shots targeting Angel’s mental health and her family which enraged the 21-year-old.

The Boma versus Angel clash comes amid Boma trending for getting intimate with married housemate, Tega. Prior to his involvement with Tega, the 34-year-old had slept in Angel’s bed for a few days right after their time in the executive lounge.
