We’ll recover millions wrongly paid to 588 Doctors — FG

The Federal Government will recover millions of naira wrongly paid to 588 Medical Doctors across the country.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, stated this when he spoke with newsmen in Abuja over the weekend.

Ngige, who fielded questions from State House Correspondents, explained that affected doctors wrongly benefitted from Medical Residency Training Fund meant for particular category of doctors.

He said the names of the doctors were uncovered after a thorough scrutinized of the 8,000 names submitted by Chief Medical Directors of Federal Government health institutions for the training programs. The Minister, however, revealed that a substantial amount of the money had been refunded by some of the affected doctors, while efforts had been intensified to recover the remaining balance.

He maintained that the delay in making the refund by the affected doctors was holding back the Residency Fund payment by the government.

Ngige said: “Ministry of Health has gotten the list of doctors who supposedly are to benefit from the Medical Residency Training Fund.

“Total submission of about 8,000 names were gotten and the Ministry of Health is scrutinizing them.

“We have done the first round of scrutinizing and they will now compare what they have with the Post-Graduate Medical College and the Chief Medical Directors who submitted the names.

“The Association of Resident Doctors, in each of the tertiary centers, worked with the CMDs to produce those names, but now that the names are being verified.

“We discovered that about 2,000 names shouldn’t be there because they don’t have what is called Postgraduate Reference Numbers of National Postgraduate Medical College and (or) that of the West African Postgraduate Medical College.

“So, this is it and that is the only thing holding back the Residency Fund payment because it is there already for… incurred expenditure has been done by the Finance Minister and an it’s in the Accountant-General’s office.

“So, once they verify the authenticity of those they are submitting, the Accountant-General will pay.

“We are doing that verification because we do not want what …

The younger Idibia took to his Instagram page on Thursday, September 2, 2021, where he dragged the actress.

“You got married into a family of peace lovers …so peaceful that it’s actually an idibia family flaw as I have come to realise. Perhaps this has made you think that we must be fools, but trust me, we are not,” he wrote.

“You are bringing up a Disney trip that happen pre-covid19 simply because you somehow cannot totally have your way today like you are used to? Trying to paint your husband bad publicly( because he is a very private person )”

“Is your threat tool and means of gaining control? …and I thought you were smart, abi dey dealer gave you the wrong dose today? Annie Idibia drags her husband 2Face Idibia on Instagram over one of his baby mamas

Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia’s wife, Annie has called him out over his relationship with one of his baby mamas, Pero Adeniyi. The movie star took to her Instagram Stories on Thursday, September 2, 2021, where she called him out over their relationship.

“I have made so many sacrifices for you and all your children. God knows I have I tried. Your baby mamas constantly use your children as an excuse for all sort of rubbish.” I try to stay gracious. You are not the first man on the planet to have kids by different women. You can do better. Everything I do is to show the good human that you are.

“But today, this move done by you, Efe, Frankie and your family is unacceptable.”

She went on to call him out for sleeping at the house of one of his baby mamas, Pero for days, during his trip to the United States of America.

“What kind of man takes his kids to Disney and spend nights in the same apartment with his kids and their mother? How many times have you gone to see your kids with Pero? and she stay with you and the kids under the same roof?”

Pero is 2Face’s first baby mama who gave birth to three kids for the music star.

Their rift can be traced back to 2015 and 2016 when they both called each other out on social media.

Their frosty relationship took a front burner when photos of 2Face Idibia reportedly kissing Pero at the singer’s nightclub back in 2015 broke the Internet.

Kemi Adetiba disassociates self from viral comment on site illegally circulating ‘KOB’ series

Kemi Adetiba has reacted to claims that she dropped a comment on an infamous film piracy site on Tuesday.

Reacting to screenshots of a comment registered in her name on the site, Adetiba revealed she had nothing to do with the comment and had no prior knowledge of the site.

“This is not me. I don’t even know where this site is. Very disturbing,” the film director wrote on Twitter.

The comment formally believed to be Adetiba’s sparked major reaction from users of the site. Comments rolled in attacking the filmmaker, accusing her of being selfish for refusing to let fans get the series for free.

Unfortunately, links of ‘King of Boys: The Return of the King’ began circulating on social media groups barely 24 hours after it premiered on Netflix. The series released to mind-blowing reviews from fans aka the ‘KOB Army’. Following the story of Eniola Salami’s (Sola Sobowale) return to Lagos after a five-year exile, the seven-episode limited series trended for days after its August 27 release.

The piracy menace which has gone on for decades sadly does not exclude local content with international films heavily targeted.

BBNaija 2021: Angel and Boma in nasty fight over kiss & tell allegations

The ‘Shine Ya Eye’ season recorded its first gbas gbos session after a few weeks on Thursday after Boma and Angel got to near blows and had to be separated by housemates. Things heated up quickly with the housemates over an argument of who spilled details of their executive lounge session from some weeks back. Angel had hinted on Boma being a kiss and tell.

Recall Boma and Angel enjoyed an exclusive time in the executive lounge where they shared a kiss and talked about their sexual preference. They also agreed to not share details of their moment with other housemates.

It appears one of the pair did the talking and that sparked some tension between them that rapidly escalated to name-calling and wigs flying. In the exchange, Boma fired some below the belt shots targeting Angel’s mental health and her family which enraged the 21-year-old.

The Boma versus Angel clash comes amid Boma trending for getting intimate with married housemate, Tega. Prior to his involvement with Tega, the 34-year-old had slept in Angel’s bed for a few days right after their time in the executive lounge.

Masari to IG: You can’t police Katsina, I’ll employ vigilantes

The Katsina Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, has said the Nigeria Police cannot adequately police the state with a population of about eight million with its level of manpower and equipment.

Masari said this when he received the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman Baba, at the Government House on Thursday.

He said: “Katsina State has a population of about eight million people.

“And how many policemen do we have in Katsina State?

“From my assessment of policemen in the local government areas, I don’t think we have up to 3,000 policemen in the entire state.

“Let us assume that they are up to 3,000, what it means is that we have a policeman to every 200,000 people.

“How effective can that policeman be?

“Then, we come to arms and ammunition.

“What do the police have?

“And when it comes to modern equipment for combating criminality, how much of it do the police have?

“And the same thing goes for all other security agencies.

“They are in South South battling militants.

“They are in the South East battling IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra).

“They are in North East battling Boko Haram and ISWAP and insurgents.

“And they are in the North West battling bandits.

“Here, the bandits have infiltrated the communities recruiting young men with as low as N5,000 along with drugs and other intoxicants.

“We must stop the culture of not reporting criminals because of tribal or family affiliations.”

Masari then went on to tell Baba he will recruit more vigilantes to strengthen security architecture in the state.

He said the recruitment will cover the 34 local government areas of the state.

The governor also said the vigilantes would be posted to strategic places to help the police and other security agencies with relevant information on security.

He added: “If they detect any crime or criminalities, they will alert the security in arresting the situation.

“These initiative will assist in protecting communities from bandits.”

Baba told Masari that he came in at a difficult time as the IG, adding that they …

Niger Police gun down bandits’ chief informant Buba Baromi

The operatives of the Police anti-banditry team in Niger State have gunned down a notorious bandits’ informant, Buba Baromi.

Baromi was killed at his hideouts in Damba Forest, in the state.

PRNigeria gathered that local hunters led the Police to the hideouts of Baromi where he was recuperating from a gunshot wound, he had sustained in previous encounters with security personnel.

An intelligence officer involved in the operation told PRNigeria that Baromi was not only an informant but also led bandits to targets of attacks and kidnapping. “Shehu Buba Baromi was notorious in providing information to bandits, as well as leading them to targets of attacks, abductions and cattle rustling.

“In the middle of August 2021, he led bandits to rustle cattle and launch attacks on villages at Dogon Fadama, where innocent lives were also lost.

“It was in one of the encounters with policemen that he sustained a bullet wound and escaped to Damba Forest, where he was being treated.

“However, the police on Tuesday, stormed the forest and engaged the bandits protecting him, and gunned him down.

“His corpse has been deposited in the hospital so that his victims and those who knew his notoriety would be satisfied with his death,” he said.…

SAUL NIGUEZ MOVES TO CHELSEA ON LOAN

On switching to London, Saul said: ‘I am very excited to start this new challenge with Chelsea. Blues fans, I am one of you now and I can’t wait to wear the shirt, start training and see all of you. See you soon!’

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: ‘We welcome Saul to the Club and believe he completes our squad as we compete for honors in five different competitions this season. He is a proven winner, a player with huge experience and we know he will be very well-suited to the challenges that face us on all fronts in the coming year.’

The 26-year-old midfielder has up until now spent his entire club career in Madrid in his native Spain, having begun his youth career at Real Madrid before switching to Atletico, with one loan spell at another capital city club Rayo Vallecano.

During his time with Atleti, where he has played 447 matches and scored 53 goals, Saul has won the Europa League twice, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish and UEFA Super Cups, and as recently as last season, the league title in his homeland.

He played 33 of the 38 La Liga games in 2020/21 and scored twice as Diego Simeone’s side beat Real to the title by two points.

They were less successful in the Champions League however, with Saul starting both games of the round of 16 tie against Chelsea which the Blues won 3-0 on aggregate.

The previous time the two clubs were drawn together in the competition, in the group stage in 2017/18, Saul was also involved and indeed he opened the scoring with a header in our meeting at Stamford Bridge before an own-goal ensured the match ended in a draw.

Chelsea went on to play Barcelona in the knockout stages that season while the Spaniards dropped into the Europa League although they went on to lift that trophy. Saul scored a further three European goals in the campaign, against FC Copenhagen and home and away against Lokomotiv Moscow. Arsenal were defeated …

Biden declares end to ‘forever wars’ in Afghan exit

President Joe Biden made a forceful defense Tuesday of his “wise” decision to leave Afghanistan, telling Americans he refuses to send another generation to fight in a “forever war.”

The traumatic departure from Afghanistan, completed Monday after 20 years of war against the Taliban, was “a wise decision and the best decision for America,” Biden said in an address to the nation.

After coming under fire from Republican opponents over the chaotic nature of the rush to the exits in Afghanistan, Biden said he did what should have been done years ago.

“I was not going to extend this forever war and I was not extending a forever exit,” he said.

Speaking in the ornate State Dining Room of the White House, Biden thumped the lectern as he detailed the extraordinary costs of a war more than 2,400 US military deaths and up to $2.3 trillion spent that ended with the Taliban guerrillas back in power.

“I take responsibility for the decision,” he said.

“I made a commitment to the American people that I would end this war. Today, I honored that commitment. It was time to be honest,” he said.

“After 20 years in Afghanistan I refused to send another generation of America’s sons and daughters to fight a war.”

Biden takes heat

Following two weeks of evacuation flights a titanic effort marred by a suicide bombing that killed 13 US service members and scores of Afghans Biden faces a chorus of criticism that could yet hurt him domestically.

Getting out of the last big post-9/11 war was one of Biden’s campaign promises coming into office. The idea was overwhelmingly popular.

But the US departure, culminating with a solitary airplane lifting at midnight from Kabul with the last troops and diplomats, brought home for many that the so-called “drawdown” or “retrograde” really amounted to jarring defeat.

Republicans, led by Biden’s bitter predecessor Donald Trump, paint the exit as a humiliating failure, a defeat that outdoes even the 1975 evacuation from Saigon, and a signal to the world that …

Akeredolu ignores Miyetti Allah, signs anti-open grazing bill into law

Less than 24 hours after Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu suspended all activities in Ondo State forest reserves, he, yesterday, signed into law the Anti-Grazing Bill passed by the State House of Assembly.

According to a statement made available to journalists in Akure yesterday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, “the move is in line with the resolution of the Southern Governors’ Forum at its last meeting in Lagos where September 1 was set as the deadline for governors in Southern Nigeria to sign the Anti-Open Grazing Bill into law.

“This is worthwhile and a very laudable development aimed at stemming needless instances of skirmishes, conflicts as well as infractions on the enviably peaceful disposition of the good people of Ondo State,” the statement said.

Explaining the import of the new law across the 18 local councils of the state, Akeredolu, who is also the Chairman of the Southwest Governors’ Forum, said: “For emphasis, no particular group of persons is the target. While it is the hope of government that all residents would take an ample advantage of this law to enhance our socio-economic well being in Ondo, compliance of same shall be given the utmost attention.…

FG set to sanction Nigerians refusing COVID-19 vaccination

Amid reactions to the declaration by Edo and Ondo states regarding restricted access to public places for unvaccinated residents, the Federal Government may sanction eligible Nigerians who refuse COVID-19 vaccination.

The hint was dropped yesterday by the Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, at a briefing in Abuja.

Shuaib said the government may “apply the basic rule of law” against such people because they will be endangering the lives of other people.

He said: “The Presidential Steering Committee and the Federal Ministry of Health is exploring ways of making vaccines more available to all Nigerians including federal civil servants and corporate entities. Once these vaccines are made equitably available to all Nigerians, we would need to have a frank discussion about justice, fairness and liberty that exist around vaccine hesitancy.

“If some individuals refuse to take the vaccine, hence endangering those who have or those who could not due to medical exemptions, then we have to apply the basic rule of law, which stipulates that your human right stops where mine begins. So, you have a right to refuse vaccines, but you do not have the right to endanger the health of others.”

This is coming as a federal high court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, granted an order restraining Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki and the state government from restricting unvaccinated persons from attending mass gatherings as from mid September.

Governor Obaseki had last week mandated people of the state to take the vaccine, warning that, as from September 15, anyone who has not been vaccinated will not be allowed into public places such as banks and worship centers. ”

From the second week of September, people may not be allowed to worship in churches and mosques without showing proof of their vaccination cards at the gates. Similarly, people will not be allowed to event centers, receptions or parties without showing proof of their vaccination cards,” the government had warned.

However, one Charles Osaretin filed a suit marked FHC/PH/FHR/266/2021 to counter the governor …

BBNaija 2021:Tega Saga + Video

Married ‘Shine Ya Eye’ housemate Tega is back in the news, this time for another in-house scandal that has got fans questioning her marital status.

In new videos currently making the rounds, Tega and Boma shared a few seconds of kissing with movements under the sheets suggesting hands got into unmentionable body parts.

The videos believed to be recent began trending hours amid Tega’s husband’s new Instagram post claiming he cheated on her 24 hours ago in their matrimonial home.

“First of all, I Love My Wife so much. However, I will like to state that our marriage is not perfect just like many other marriages out there. We are two imperfect people. The past 24 hours has been hell for us as a family. I have wronged my wife in so many ways but cheating on her was what broke the bond we had as a couple,” he wrote.

Recall Tega recently told Boma that she was prepared if her marriage crumbles after the show as she will be content with the fame the platform will afford her.

While Boma will officially be Tega’s first tryst in the house, she first raised eyebrows when she let fellow housemate Saga suck her breasts during a truth or dare game. The pair interestingly have what it takes to make a solid situation-ship in the house especially as Boma has claimed repeatedly that he is not interested in a relationship in the house.

Tega’s husband says cheating on her broke their bond

The Calabar-based businessman made this known via his Instagram page on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, where he penned a lengthy post.

“First of all, I Love My Wife so much. However, I will like to state that our marriage is not perfect just like many other marriages out there. We are two imperfect people. The past 24 hours has been hell for us as a family. I have wronged my wife in so many ways but cheating on her was what broke the bond we had as a couple,” he

‘Love is not for everyone’ – Peruzzi

Nigerian singer Peruzzi has explained to his fans and Nigerians why some people may never find love. The music star made this know via his Instagram Stories on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

“Love isn’t for everyone. Some of us gon find love. Some of us gon be single. Some of us were made for cruise and vibes. Don’t kill yourself for what would’ve also killed you,” he wrote.

The singer has never been romantically linked to anyone in recent times.

However, the last time he made news with a lady was when UK-based singer, Daffy Blanco accused him of sexual assault and fraud.

She called out the music star for defrauding her to the tune of N15M and trying to have his way with her.
