Chief Layiwola Olakojo, the Oyo State Coordinator of the African Democratic Congress, claims the party has two million members that will make it win the 2019 governorship election in the state over APC.
The ADC chieftain made this claim at a news conference on Tuesday in Ibadan.
However, Olakojo did not provide a register of the party or any proof of its membership to verify the claim.
He said the party would avoid the mistakes of both Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress in choosing its governorship candidate.
“We’re going to do everything within our power, with the help of God, to take control of Oyo government come 2019,” he said.

Olakojo also said the party would work hard to defeat the governing party at the centre and form the government next year, though he was uncertain about the party’s presidential candidate.
He said: “We are already on ground in Oyo State and you will see that in the whole of Oyo State today, ADC is the only party on ground.
“Others are nowhere to be found because of internal crisis.
“As far as we are concerned, we’re solidly on ground.
“Since April 28 that we held our town hall meeting, we decided to welcome the Unity Forum into our fold because they are very powerful segment of the APC in Oyo State.
“We make sure that we work together and I want to assure you that working together has made ADC a very strong political party.
“I want to assure you that by the special grace of God, we are doing everything possible to ensure that ADC controls the government of Oyo State next year.
“We will do everything within our plan, by the grace of God.
“We cannot do anything without God’s support.
“With the collective effort of our members and support of the good people of Oyo State, victory is ours.”

Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has reiterated his call on the Federal Government to prioritise steel development, saying it was the bedrock for the country’s development.
Dogara made the call at the ongoing “Open National Assembly Week’’ on Tuesday in Abuja.
He explained that the country had been losing revenue through importation of steel, even more that the government was focused on implementing projects that were dependent on steel.
Dogara said that such projects included the Mambilla Power Project and the Second Niger Bridge.
He also stressed the need for provision of mechanised tools and subsidies to farmers for proper agricultural revolution.
He said: “This is a pointer to any nation out there that is industrialised that doesn’t have a robust steel and aluminium sector.
“As we edge towards the Mambilla Power Project, we are utilising millions in tonnes of steel and if we don’t have a robust steel sector, all the money would go to China for instance, where we will be importing this steel from.
“The second Niger Bridge is there; it’s going to also consume millions of tonnes in steel. If care is not taken, China will also earn all the money.
“So, what are we doing as a government to ensure this doesn’t happen?
“Without the aluminium and steel sector, there cannot be industrialisation in Nigeria.
“The President of Ghana was speaking recently before an enlightened audience and he spoke of the need for Ghana to have a steel plant and they are starting soon.
“So, if care is not taken, Nigeria, the giant of Africa, will be importing steel from Ghana.”
The speaker also emphasised the need to revolutionalise the agricultural sector for the benefit of farmers and the country.
Dogara said: “To be very frank, if we don’t talk of mechanisation and subsidies for farmers, any talk about revolution in agriculture without mechanisation and subsidy is just rendering cheap talk.
“It will not be competitive and it will not work. I’m yet to see any developed country be it in America or …

Grace Beverley, 21 has shelved plans for a career in law to be an Instagram influencer instead.
She attended a £9,600-a-year nursery and no fewer than four public schools, then won a place at Oxford.
Under the name GraceFitUK, she already has more than a million followers online, where she shares exercise tips in tight sportswear. She uses social media to sell her own fitness products and endorses other brands with sponsored videos.
Miss Beverley went to Oxford after getting an A*, two A’s and one B at A-level at the prestigious St Paul’s Girls’ School in West London. This followed periods at three other private schools during a six-figure education that began at a bilingual nursery, La Petite Ecole Francaise, which now costs £9,600 per year.
Her father, Peter, runs his own consultancy business, while her mother, Victoria, is a senior curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
However, instead of pursuing a high-powered professional career like many of her peers, Miss Beverley hopes to emulate the likes of Zoella – the British social media superstar worth an estimated £2.5million.
Social media stars or ‘influencers’ earn money through partnerships with brands which pay them to advertise their products. They can make up to £100 per post if they have up to 10,000 followers, while for those with a fanbase of 100,000, the money can rise to £350 per post.
Miss Beverley, who already posts around four sponsored videos a month, has 366,000 followers on YouTube and 837,000 on Instagram – meaning she could be commanding considerably higher fees.
The Oxford music student is due to complete her degree at St Peter’s College next year, and had intended to take a professional qualification afterwards to begin a career in law in the City. However, she has now decided to pursue and focus on her online work instead.
The undergraduate began posting photos online during her A-levels to track her exercise progress, and even blocked ‘around 400’ people she knew from accessing the page out of embarrassment. ‘I wanted to get …

France have emerged World Champions after defeating Croatia 4-2 at the Final of the Russia 2018 World Cup in Moscow on Sunday.
An own goal by Mario Mandzukic gave France a 19-minute lead.
Antoine Griezmann’s ball-in was superb, left-footed and flat, Varane was close to winning it but instead it was England’s nemesis, Mario Mandzukic, who flicked a header into the top corner of his own net.
On 29th minute Croatia equalised through Ivan Perisic, a well deserved goal.
There was a free-kick and was nodded down, it bounced around just inside the area and Perisic then took a composed right-footed touch to bring the ball into his arc and then battered home left-footed, via a slight deflection.
France took the lead on 38 minute through a penalty, thanks to VAR. Griezmann easily converted the kick.
France made it 3-1 after Paul Pogba’s super strike on 59 minutes.
Pogba started it with a brilliant ball forwards into the run of Kylian Mbappe, he carried it downfield, and found Griezmann who then teed up Pogba. His shot was blocked but the ball came back to him, and Pogba clipped home left-footed past an unsighted goalkeeper.
Kylian Mbappe made it 4-1 for France on 65 minutes. With the goal, Mbappe becomes only the second teenager to score in a World Cup final after the great Pele.
Again, Danijel Subasic did not cover himself in glory in the Croatian goal, he took a step to his left and Mbappe drilled into the other corner from about 22 yards.
Mandzukic reduced the tally for Croatia on 69 minutes. Hugo Lloris was to blame. The Spurs keeper got a back-pass, tried to take a touch around Mandzukic and he tackled him and put the ball into an empty net.…

Seven-time champion Serena Williams reached the Wimbledon final for the 10th time on Thursday and will face Germany’s Angelique Kerber for the title.
The 25th seeded American downed German 13th seed Julia Goerges 6-2, 6-4 to book her place in her 30th Grand Slam final.
The 36-year-old, who will be in her first final at the majors since giving birth to daughter Olympia last year, can equal Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24 Slam titles if she beats Kerber in what will be a repeat of the 2016 final at the All England Club.
Speaking after the game, Serena said: ‘It’s crazy, I l didn’t expect to do this well in my fourth tournament back. I can play so free and that’s kind of what I’m doing.’ ‘This wasn’t inevitable for me, I had a tough delivery (birth) and had multiple surgeries, I couldn’t walk to my mailbox so it’s not normal to be in a Wimbledon final.’
Of her next opponent, she said: ‘She is clearly a very good grass court player, whatever happens it’s an incredible effort from me and good motivation to keep going for the rest of my career.’ Serena Williams, a 23-time champion, will equal Margaret Court’s all-time record if she beats Angelique Kerber on Saturday in the finals.…
