Chrisland gives detailed account of Dubai trip

The Management of Chrisland Schools, Lagos State has given a detailed account of the trip to the World Schools Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where some of its pupils engaged in sex and filmed it.

A member of the school’s Advisory Board, Akin Fadeyi, gave the detailed account in a statement he issued on Sunday.

The school came under spotlight again on Sunday after a sex video involving four male and one female pupils trended on the social media.

In it, a female pupil was seen having sex with a male pupil, while one of them filmed it. Following the controversy, the Lagos State Government has shut the schools, with the Lagos State Police Command announcing it had commenced investigation.

Fadeyi revealed that for the World Schools Games held in Dubai between March 10 and 13, 2022, 76 children were taken, with five of them misbehaving.

He also said conscious efforts were made to separate the male and female, adding that for the girl involved in the show of shame, the management of the school did not take her for pregnancy test as alleged by the mother in a video.

He said in the statement: “We have followed up on reports making the rounds on certain developments bordering on the morals and ethics of some of the students under our care, who represented the school at the World School games, Dubai between 8 and 14 of March 2022.

“While we understand the emotions this has generated, we assure the public that our first approach as an institution was to assume parental roles by offering support to those involved and ensuring that nothing affected their senses of esteem.

“However, after a comprehensive evaluation of the situation, we cannot help but express how scandalised and distressed we feel as mothers, fathers and instructors with a relationship that holds a direct bearing on the development of those involved.

“Nonetheless, we took a critical view of the number of students who partook in this recent trip and who did the school proud in …

Rafael Nadal wins Australian Open for record-setting 21st Grand Slam men’s singles title

Rafael Nadal made history Sunday at the Australian Open, defeating Daniil Medvedev for a record-setting 21st Grand Slam men’s singles title.

But it didn’t come easily.

In a rematch of the 2019 U.S. Open final that Nadal won in five sets, the 35-year-old Spaniard took down the 25-year-old Russian again in five sets after dropping the first two, 2-6, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.

Nadal’s Australian Open win comes after months away from the game because of a foot injury and a COVID-19 diagnosis during preparation for this event. He skipped Wimbledon after losing in the French Open semifinals to Novak Djokovic, and didn’t play at all after August.

“Without a doubt it had been probably one of the most emotional of ones my tennis career,” Nadal said after winning major title No. 21. “Having the huge support that I received during the three weeks, it’s just going to stay in my heart for the rest of my life.”

Nadal surpasses two other tennis greats, Djokovic and Roger Federer, for the most major titles in tennis history among men. Djokovic (deported for being unvaccinated) and Federer (knee injury) did not play in this tournament.

Nadal’s last major victory came in the 2020 French Open. He last won the Australian Open in 2009.…

5 things Ebuka said about BBNaija in his Beat FM interview

During his interview, Toolz‘s Midday Show on Beat FM cleared up many misconceptions about the show and the recent reunion show.

These are five things he said in the interview.

Ebuka said the ongoing Twitter ban in Nigeria has affected the show because they are not getting instant feedback.

Oh yes, it has, because people are still watching because Multichoice has the viewers but what is missing is the instant feedback,” he said.

In one of the highlights of the just-concluded reunion episodes, Lockdown housemates Lucy and Kaisha got into a fight.

Although the fight was not air, Ebuka confirmed that it did happen and that the girls ruined his shoes during the scuffle.

They ruined my shoe that day; I’m actually upset,” the host said.

“I’m actually happy they didn’t air the fight. I actually fell on the floor trying to avoid it.

At the reunion, there was a lot of carry-over beef from the show, and Ebuka believes that this edition had the least reconciliation.

This year, a lot of people came and vented and still left probably even angry,” Ebuka said.

Just Erica and Wathoni, I can’t remember any other one (who reconciled). There were very few moments and I think it was only Ozo and Prince who had some conversation off air. there was a handshake at some point.”

“In the past you would have one or two or have those very intense fanbases who would go back and forth at each other on social media, this year there are probably five or six,” Ebuka said.

Ebuka is frustrated with his family-wife and children-being attacked by fans.

As the host of BB Naija, fans have often accused Ebuka of influencing some decisions. Even more

Japanese football star Kumi Yokoyama comes out as transgender man

Japanese Women’s World Cup star Kumi Yokoyama has come out as a transgender man — one of the few athletes to do so in a country where LGBTQ rights lag behind other developed nations.

Yokoyama, who represented Japan at the 2019 Women’s World Cup and currently plays for National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit, said living in the United States made it easier to be “open” about sexuality and gender.

“Recently, the term LGBTQ has become familiar in Japan, and you see it in the media nowadays,” said the 27-year-old footballer.

“But I thought that if people in my position didn’t speak up, things wouldn’t progress.”

Yokoyama’s message was posted on the YouTube channel of former Japan teammate Yuki Nagasato — a World Cup winner in 2011.

Yokoyama, who wishes to be referred by the gender-neutral pronouns “they” and “them”, had a breast-removal operation at the age of 20.

They intend to have further gender reassignment surgery after they have retired from playing.

The forward said there was pressure to conform to gender norms in Japan, but there was less discrimination in the United States and Germany, where Yokoyama previously played for Frankfurt.

“In Japan, you’re always asked ‘do you have a boyfriend?’, but here it’s normal to ask ‘do you prefer men or women’,” Yokoyama said.

“I hid it from my teammates in the beginning, but they told me it was uncool to hide it, and that I didn’t have to.”

Yokoyama found support from Washington Spirit, who tweeted: “We support and are so proud of you Kumi. Thank you for showing the world it’s OK to embrace who you are!”

On Monday, New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard was chosen as the first transgender Olympic athlete.

Hubbard, 43, who transitioned to female in her 30s, met all the qualification criteria for transgender athletes.…

I Married Annie Because She Offered Me Her All When We Had Very Little – Tubaba

Award-winning Nigerian artist, Tubaba Idibia has opened up on why he married his wife, Annie Idibia Innocent despite having kids from different women.

The artist is a father of seven; 5 from his previous relationships with other women and two with his wife, Annie; Olivia, and Isabella.

In an interview 2Baba disclosed his reasons for his choice and also talked about his past relationship.

2Baba said. “You see Annie is from an average background like myself. We both started from nothing. She stuck by me through it all. When there was no car she hopped on bikes, took the bus, and trekked with me. When there was no money or house or hit song or millions of albums sold or big awards and accolades.”

“When I used to repeat just 3 sets of clothes, she would always hold my head, look me in the eyes and tell me things will be fine one day. When I wasn’t handsome, she would call me her prince charming. When I wasn’t celebrated, she called me her king and said she is my number one fan and to this day, she still is.”

“Even when I made it big as a musician and started misbehaving and controversies almost destroyed my career, she would go down on her knees and pray to God to show me the way and give me victory over my enemies.” “Now if am still that small boy struggling to make it like every other young chap on the streets of Lagos, do you think a doctor, a lawyer, and a multi-millionaire businesswoman would want to look at me or even have my kids? No, so to answer your question, I did not choose who had more to offer me, I chose Annie because she offered me her all when we had very little”.

Mali suspended over second coup in nine months by ECOWAS

West African leaders suspended Mali from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) at an extraordinary summit Sunday but stopped short of reimposed sanctions, after a second military coup in nine months.

The putsch had sparked deep concerns over stability in the volatile Sahel region and warnings of fresh economic penalties.

Ten regional heads of state and three foreign ministers attended the summit in the Ghanaian capital Accra, with former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan serving as a mediator in the crisis.

“The suspension from ECOWAS takes immediate effect until the deadline of the end of February 2022 when they are supposed to hand over to a democratically elected government,” Ghana’s Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said after the meeting.

The final declaration called for the immediate appointment of a new civilian prime minister and the formation of an “inclusive” government.

In a statement, ECOWAS also reiterated that “the head of the transition, the vice-president and the prime minister of the transition must under no circumstances be a candidate for the future presidential election”.…

China allows couples to have three children: State Media

China will allow couples to have three children after a census showed its population is rapidly ageing, state media said Monday, further unwinding four decades of strict family planning controls in the world’s most populous nation which have strangled the birthrate.

In 2016 China relaxed its controversial “one-child policy” — one of the world’s strictest family planning regulations — to a “two-child policy” due to widespread concerns over an ageing workforce and economic stagnation.

Despite government efforts to encourage couples to have children, China’s annual births have continued to plummet to a record low of 12 million in 2020, the National Bureau of Statistics said last month, as the cost of living rises and women increasingly make their own family planning choices.

The slump threatens a demographic crisis which has alarmed the ruling Communist Party headed by President Xi Jinping, booking in a shortage of young workers to drive an economy experts say will by 2050 will have to support hundreds of millions of elderly.

A Monday meeting of the elite Politburo leadership committee hosted by Xi announced a further loosening of the state’s control over the size of families.

“To actively respond to the ageing population … a couple can have three children,” state media Xinhua reported.

The Politburo meeting also promised “accompanying support measures” that are also “conducive to the country’s population structure”, though these were left unspecified.

Colorado woman killed in suspected bear attack, wildlife officials say

A Colorado woman out walking her dogs died of a suspected bear attack, officials said.

The 39-year-old woman was found Friday night by her boyfriend, who went searching for her when he discovered the two dogs alone outside their home in Durango, in southwestern Colorado, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a statement Saturday.

He found her body around 9:30 p.m. local time off U.S. Highway 550 near Trimble, north of Durango, and called 911, officials said. The woman and her boyfriend haven’t been publicly identified.

Responding wildlife officers “observed signs of consumption on the body and an abundance of bear scat and hair at the scene,” Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a statement.

Wildlife officials believe the woman died of a bear attack, though the local coroner’s office will determine the official cause of death. An autopsy will be performed by the La Plata County coroner early next week, officials said.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials urged the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues and asked people to report any encounter with an aggressive bear to the agency.

“Bear attacks are extremely rare,” Colorado Parks and Wildlife Southwest Region manager Cory Chick said in a statement. “This is a tragic event and a sad reminder that bears are wild and potentially dangerous.”…

Nigeria university celebrates Islamic clothe after student harassed

A university in Nigeria’s northern Kano state has suspended male students who harassed a female student for her outfit.

In a viral online video, the students can be seen taunting the female student dressed in the Arabian clothe called abaya, a loose fitting long garment that reaches to the ankles.

It is popular for women in predominantly Muslim northern Nigeria.

The Kano State University of Technology described the actions of the male students as shameful and said their suspension was to serve as a warning to others.

Seventeen male students are under investigation for their role in the incident and at least five have been suspended.

The university has also declared 27 May every year to celebrate the abaya and students were asked to wear the outfit on Thursday.

The victim told the BBC that she cried after the incident as it was the first time she was subjected to such because of her outfit.

“I cried because I don’t dress indecently and the abaya covered my body properly,” she said.

It is rare for Muslim women in northern Nigeria to be harassed for their outfits and this harassment is linked to posts on social media from two weeks ago.

Ahead of the Salah celebrations, some northern young women took to social media to say they were willing to do anything to be rewarded with the outfit, says the BBC’s Mansur Abubakar in Kano.

This prompted some men to begin to mock women seen in the outfit with shouts of “abaya”, he said.

Hisbah, the Sharia police in the state, has also warned men that they face arrest and prosecution if they harass women wearing the abaya.

King Alfred Diete Spiff Palace destroyed in Town brass

One person was reportedly shot when a mob protesting against the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (NAOC) over years of neglect attacked the palace of the Amayanabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff in Brass Council of Bayelsa State.

Indigenes of NAOC’s host community were protesting against protracted power outage, refusal to pay indigenous contractors and failure to meet its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

It was also learnt that after soldiers attached to Diete-Spiff, a former military administrator of old Rivers State took him to the palace, the mob still proceeded to attack there.

We learnt that the mob destroyed some property, while a soldier, who tried to disperse the mob, shot one of the protesters on the leg.

Responding to the incident, the Brass chapter of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) condemned the attack on Diete-Spiff, saying it would not condone any disrespect for the monarch from indigenes or foreigners.

In statement issued by its Chairman, Hello Richard and representative of the Ijaw clan, Benjamin Tustin, the group said: “Our attention has been drawn to the shooting of a protester by a military personnel during a peaceful protest by the people of Twon Brass Kingdom in Brass Council against Agip.

“From our findings, the protest, triggered into chaos after some persons hijacked it and started fomenting trouble in the process, which eventually led to the attack on Diete-Spiff.

“We further learnt that while trying to protect the monarch, a soldier shot one of the protesters in the leg and the situation generated tension in the community. The shooting took place when some persons hijacked the protest and destroyed part of the palace.”

The group stressed that it had become expedient that the leadership of Brass Clan of IYC should appeal to the people of Brass Kingdom to remain calm and urged security agencies to find
